Born amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Bleu De Capri is much more than a cosmetics line: it is a story of passion, family and science. Behind the brand lies the vision of Dr. Karyna Koval and her mother Olena Koval, both doctors, who have been able to combine clinical know-how with beauty care, giving life to skincare products designed to be effective, essential and deeply linked to the Mediterranean identity. In this interview, she tells us about the birth and growth of this fascinating reality.
Dr. Koval, how was Bleu De Capri born?
“Bleu De Capri was born during a very particular period: it was 2020, in the midst of a pandemic. I was still immersed in my medical studies, but with my activities at a standstill I had the opportunity to dedicate myself to an idea I had had for some time: to create a cosmetics line. My mother has always worked in aesthetics and inspired me. I started by studying the chemistry of active ingredients and experimenting directly on myself and my friends, all with skin similar to mine, tending to acne. The first tests gave positive results, and from there everything was born”.
When did you decide to transform this passion into a real brand?
“After almost a year of testing and positive feedback, in 2021 we decided to make the project a reality. Capri, despite being a symbol of beauty, did not have its own real cosmetics line. This is how Bleu De Capri was born: a name chosen while I was working in France, inspired by the Capri sea and its unique colors. We wanted everything to be made in Campania, with production in Naples, to maintain an authentic connection with the territory”.
What are the main products in the line?
“The line currently includes four main products: the Fleur de Mer. It is a light serum with fruit acids, flowers and a high concentration of hyaluronic acid. It is absorbed immediately, leaves no residue and has an immediate lifting effect. Perfect as a makeup base or for more toned skin before going out in the evening. Then the Hydrazur, a refreshing cream-gel based on hyaluronic acid, with only 4-5 ingredients. Ideal as a summer moisturizer and makeup base, it has a marine scent and a very light texture, which is not greasy or shiny. The Fabuleuse is, on the other hand, a thicker cream, designed for mature skin. It does not have an immediate effect but acts over time, improving the texture of the skin and stimulating the production of collagen. Perfect for those looking for visible results after a few weeks of continued use. Finally the Corail Blanc, created with my mother, has a richer base and contains polydatin, a powerful active ingredient from the resveratrol family. It works on skin rashes, sunburn and as an intensive anti-aging. It can be used on the face and body and has important regenerating properties”.
Are all the products natural?
“Yes, absolutely. We have chosen essential formulations, with few ingredients, especially in the lighter products. For example, both the serum and the Hydrazur have only 4-5 ingredients. In the richer creams, such as Fabuleuse and Corail Blanc, there are more active ingredients, but always carefully chosen and all tested”.
Are the products tested for sensitive and allergic skin?
“Yes, it is a point we care a lot about. The line has also been tested on very sensitive skin, because it was born from a personal need. There are girls who had problems similar to mine, and they all had excellent results, without adverse reactions”.
Do you also offer personalized advice for customers?
“Yes, of course. Especially for those with specific problems or sensitive skin, we provide advice on how to best use the products. Our customers are mainly women, but many men are also approaching our line”.
Are there any new ideas coming?
“In 2023 we have already introduced a cleansing mousse, a toner and a weekly face scrub, very delicate and hydrating. We continue to experiment, but always without rushing: we want to maintain a quality identity, without expanding too quickly”.
Where can buy your products?
“At the moment we only sell in Capri, in our reference boutiques. The site is being renovated, but it will soon be possible to buy online too”.
